Ava Patricia Avila is a development and security specialist working in the fields of gender, IR, civil-military relations, peace, and governance. She has conducted research on political violence and terrorism, as well as on broader matters of security in Southeast Asia. Her long-standing goal is to work towards bridging research, policymaking, and grassroots activism to effectively implement policies.  Ava’s professional experience encompasses working for both non-government and education sectors in the Philippines and in Singapore. She holds a PhD in defense and security from Cranfield University.
