Strategic Planning

Strategic planning is an organization’s process of defining its strategy and of making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy. It may also extend to control mechanisms for guiding the implementation of the strategy. Often, organizations focus on strategy and do not think carefully enough about execution. PASS helps develop practices and tactics that are within each organization’s capacities to execute.

Board Development

Board development and recruitment are critical components of organizational well-being. An appropriately engaged and aligned board has an important business function and plays a critical proactive—rather than reactive—role in executing and delivering on stated objectives. PASS greatly enhances an organization’s level of success by deploying a strategic and ongoing recruitment function, while also working with the current Board to maximize their service.

Financial Governance

In the absence of adopted policies and procedures, an organization is likely to operate under a set of assumptions that may not be accurate and productive. Financial policies and procedures are among the most critical policies an organization must have to meet its fiduciary responsibilities. PASS assesses an organization and helps to identify potential weaknesses in governance. Once identified, PASS can work with your organization to create and approve policies to meet your needs.

Due Diligence

Conducting due diligence on a potential grantee or grantor is a unique process for each situation. PASS’s experience in research and strategy can guide your process for deciding whether to invest in a nonprofit or accept a grant by evaluating: how critical to your strategy the grant is; whether this support is very important; whether the grant may be potentially controversial in any way; and the level of familiarity with the organization or grantee. Having PASS assist in determining the level of due diligence required will help you focus on the most important questions and maximize your efficiency.
